The scratching of a tree branch against the window, barked and barren claws now that the leaves have fallen for the year. Cobb clears his throat and continues. “The home remained empty until I scraped together enough gold to begin repairs. I hired a few hands. They were going to stay in the house until work was completed. The next morning, they were all found dead. They’re hearts just gave out! Nothing but terror on their faces. The place is haunted, I’m certain of it, so I pleaded with the village priest to exorcize the building and bless it. He went in yesterday and has not emerged. I fear the worst.” Cobb begs the characters to determine what is haunting the old farmhouse and to lift the evil. Investigating the Farm Dare you push aside your fear, cross the threshold of terror, and enter… the farm that drank blood??!! The characters can ask to see the bodies of the dead workers. With the village priest missing, there is no one to grant them access to the church’s cold cellar where they lay awaiting burial. If they want to get in, they’ll have to break in. If so, the bodies are found as described, with no outward signs of violence save for the look of terror contorting their faces. They were scared to death. The characters will obviously want to investigate the haunted Scudder
