Val Carter’s Guide to Merfolk
Strange Tides W hile there are a great many civilizations that exist above and below the waves of the Outer Ses, there are also entities who drift upon the strange tides who have no kingdom. At times, they come from lands ruled by ancient powerful forces—be they the living gods, or those gods of the dead who still hold court in the dark depths where the golden sun of Ryn can not see their rites and rituals. Below you will find but a few of the multitudes of merfolk who call the Outer Seas home. Swarm Attacks Swarm of Blue Barb Jellyfish. The Bloom Warden releases a swarm of Blue Barb Jellyfish in a 15 ft. cone. Each creature in the area of effect must make a Dexterity Saving Throw DC 13. On a failed save, the creature takes 14 (4d6) slashing damage, or half as much damage on a successful one. Swarm of Crimson Thread Jelly fish. The Bloom Warden releases a swarm of Crimson thread Jelly fish in a 25 ft. cone. Each creature in the area of effect must make a Constitution Saving Throw DC 13. On a failed save, the creature takes 14 (4d6) poison damage and is restrained in a mass of crimson thread-like tentacles until the end of its next turn. On a successful save, the creature takes half as much damage and is not restrained. Swarm of Yellow Mushroom Jelly fish. The Bloom Warden releases a cloud of small Yellow Mushroom Jellyfish in a 30 ft. sphere centered on the Bloom Warden. Until the end of the Bloom Warden’s next turn, all spells that would deal damage to a target within the

Merfolk can breathe both air and water. Bloom Brain. The Bloom Warden can communicate telepathically with all jellyfish within 120 ft. of them. Actions Multiattack. The Bloom Warden may make two attacks: one with their shocking bolt and one with a swarm attack. Stinging Bolt. Ranged Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, range 80/320 ft., one target. Hit: 5 (1d6+2) acid damage.
