Dreamers CALIFORNIA Agua Caliente BAND OF CAHUILLA INDIANS Since time immemorial, the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians have been stewards of the beautiful land now known as Palm Springs. In recent years, the Tribe has dramatically redefined the visitor experience for travelers heading to this desert oasis with its cultural heritage tourism focus.
The Agua Caliente Cultural Plaza, which opened in 2023 in the heart of downtown Palm Springs, celebrates the history, culture and traditions of the Agua Caliente people. The Agua Caliente Cultural Plaza features the Agua Caliente Cultural Museum, The Spa at Séc-he that celebrates the Tribe’s ancient Agua Caliente Hot Mineral Spring, a Gathering Plaza and an Oasis Trail. These new offerings add to a visitor experience that the Tribe has curated over the decades, welcoming hundreds of thousands of visitors year after year. In addition to the several resorts and casinos Agua Caliente owns and operates in the area, they’ve also graciously allowed guests to walk in the footsteps of their ancestors through several hiking trails Indian Canyons — where the world’s largest California fan palm oasis thrives — and Tahquitz Canyon, where visitors can hike to a 60-foot waterfall.
